Newly established, Volunteering Hands, has become the latest brand to be created by FusionDesign, under their CSI brand Isibindi. Christine Tworeck the owner of the business - or Chief Volunteer - as she prefers to be known, started Volunteering Hands to address a critical need in the CSI industry.

“All social organisations experience similar issues in relation to the lack of resources needed to fulfil their obligations or make the kind of impact they want to in the lives of people and the environment. Motivating for funding is often easier than finding the hands-on support and staff to carry through the work that needs to be done,” comments Tworeck. “Most of the time volunteers are brought in to help implement the programs objectives, and this is where we play a crucial role.”

“Our organisation focuses on all aspects surrounding these volunteers. We recruit them, largely from overseas destinations and place them with programs that we support in communities that we're in constant contact with. We ensure they have proper job descriptions so their time spent is productive and they're guaranteed a valuable learning experience, in addition to transferring skills to their co-workers so that when their experience is over and they return home, the project remains sustainable. In summary, we take care of them, ensuring their experience of South Africa is a positive one and they become our ambassadors.”

Commenting on the corporate identity design, Carmen Lerm, CEO of FusionDesign had this to say: “We've thoroughly enjoyed the client interaction with Christine, her strategy for her organisation is something we bought into at the outset, the brief was jointly developed and Christine's clarity of vision certainly helped us in the design process. We created and designed all the brand elements, including the logo, website, business cards and stationery. Our concept reflected triple bottom line reporting ‘People, Planet, Passion' and the key differentiator for Volunteering Hands, when comparing them with other social organisations, is their unwavering commitment to the volunteer and the volunteer's experience. Two hands are the best way to depict this supportive role, and the hands come together forming a heart both in the website animation and the fold over business card. When the hands are joined the shape of the fingers is symbolic of the wings of a guardian angel. The brand essence was built around these core ideas: an absolute passion for what they do and a commitment to the volunteer's and the social organisation's experience. The imagery used is very South African with orange and green as the dominant earth experiences.

“We're looking forward to a long term partnership with Christine and the Volunteering Hands team as we take the company and the brand through Africa, Europe and beyond,” concludes Lerm.
